“A Model Home Integrating Accessible and Universal Design”
AHS purchased a typical 1000 sq foot ranch home in suburban Baltimore and renovated it with approximately 70 accessible and universal design concepts.
These concepts allow able-bodied individuals and wheelchair users to live comfortably, safely, and independently in their home without the need for future modifications.
Some of these features include:
• Multiple no-step entrances for safety and independence
• A unique keyless and audio/video home entry system to maximize safety & accessibility
• Multi-level kitchen countertops that accommodate the needs of both wheelchair and non-wheelchair family members
